Editing 2

These are other pictures of one of our group members editing. She was adding some adjustments to our title. In the title, we used the same font, "BebasNeue" which makes it eye catching and seem important. We added a vignette effect to make a scene look like a point of view and eerie. For our transitional effects, we used a fade out and fade in. It transitioned to the next location. No new audio effects were added so far. Some new issues we encountered were based on the laptop. Effects didn't work or weren't available. We remedied this by converting the video to a phone and continuing from there. To conclude, Anabel and Emily spend around 1 hour editing. We discussed and decided that we're going to film again this Saturday.

editing 1

In our editing, the people involved were Anabel and Emily, as seen in the pictures above.

The title we decided on was "Missing" the plot revolves around the friend that is gone or missing.  Our font choice was BebasNeue. We chose this because it was bold and eye-catching. This helped bring mystery and suspense to our film.

A video effect we used was blurring. We blurred the background of the title because it guided the audiences attention towards the title.

The only audio effect we used was a voice over. The voice over allowed audiences to hear who's talking without seeing their face or mouths move.

Problems we encountered are making transitions smoother. They were just technical issues that could be fixed. We also had problems with timing the effects and the videos. Solutions to this are having the editors spend more time working with capcut(the software). Another issue was getting effects to work. For example, we struggled with blurring effects on the title. A way we can fix these is through youtube tutorials or videos that would show us how to use the software.

So far, we spent 2 hours and 30 minutes editing. We've only edited half of our film opening and we still need to add more transitions, effects, etc.

Once we finish filming the rest of our opening, we can start adding it to the final edits and make some more changes. We still need to find a location and set times/dates for the next time we film.

Filming process

We began filming a week or two ago and so far we've done a good bit.

We first decided on locations, dates, and times for our film. The local park was perfect since it was large and had lots of areas we could use for our clips. My group and I discussed times we'd be free to start and all drove to the location. We started filming around 4:30 and had to stop by 6. This was because it got too dark and the camera had a hard time picking stuff up. In the picture, you can see us in the middle of a scene. The woods provided darker lighting which contributed to the mood and mystery.

The next time we film, we are thinking about changing locations for the last part. We are still discussing when to do it and which location. It'll most likely be an abandoned building or somewhere rugged looking.

Challenges in Film

Working on a film comes with many of its own challenges, especially in a group. To start with, coordinating between 4 members has been difficult. For example, finding time for everyone to get together  so we can continue filming has been a problem. Usually one person is busy with work or other things. One way we've handled this was through setting a date in the future so everyone can clear their schedules to film. Another problem we've had was with lighting in our location. Since our film takes place in the woods and with darker lighting, we've had to film from 4-6. The issue with this is that it gets dark really quick so we are limited in how long we have. To fight this, we might be able to start earlier and just find areas where trees can block some sunlight to give it a darker effect.
In the picture you can see how dark it is, which makes it harder for us to film some scenes.
